Promise meetings are held on the first three Thursdays of each month at Leith Business Exchange, Mitchell House, 5 Mitchell Street, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 7BD. Click here for location map.
Members and guests gather from 7am onwards to circulate informally, with the meeting starting promptly at 7.15am. Bacon rolls, coffee and croissants are served before the meeting, which ends at 8:30am - in time for the start of a new business day.
Each meeting consists of one of two formats
‘Magic minute’ presentations - Each member gives a brief ‘magic minute’ presentation of their business proposition. As part of this, specific and clear business introductions are sought and identified..
Business carousel - Carousel meetings involve the group splitting into smaller sub-groups to focus on the exchange of business news and ideas, with a particular emphasis on identifying areas where members can work together or refer on to each other’s contacts. Each sub-group changes from meeting to meeting to maximise opportunities for all.
It’s a great way of discovering more valuable connections with potential new customers and provides a valuable forum for making specific requests for introductions to particular businesses or types of business.
‘Magic minute’ and ‘business carousel’ meetings share two features.
Group members take it in turn to chair the meeting. Members also have the opportunity to make longer presentations to the group, so we can learn more about each others businesses, and hone our business presentation skills in a friendly, supportive environment. From time to time, guest speakers are invited to present to the group on useful business topics that can help members grow their business.
